This once-unused space behind the home is now a complete, functional retreat — brought to life from concept through detailed design. A wood retention wall made room for a garden shed within a tight footprint, while fenced raised beds keep deer at bay. Alongside them, a pollinator garden of deer-resistant natives and xeriscape plants adds beauty and biodiversity. A flagstone path leads to a beautiful prefabricated sauna, chosen by the owners themselves. We hope John and Monica enjoy this healthy, pollinator-friendly retreat for years to come.

Located in the hills of Naramata, Arawana Reteat restores a disturbed, steep, rocky slope into a natural landscape. Slope stabilization, native plants and stone works create continuity with the surrounding grassland. The project works with the land to support local ecology while maintaining structural stability and a sense of natural beauty.
